Kay Deardorff is a versatile painter with the ability to paint any subject but is particularly drawn to the figure. This love has lead her to portray, on canvas, people doing ordinary things. She is intrigued with light and how it reflects on people and objects. As a painter, one sees the world differently than most. I see light and shadows and the color in them. In restaurants I am constantly squinting to see light on objects. This has inspired many a painting.
Kays early training was with Pat McGuffin at the Art Students Academy in Tulsa, OK. She has furthered her studies extensively with well known artists Herb Robb, Virginia Rodecker Jarboe, Claudia Doyle, Neil Boyle, David Leffel, Kim English, Diane Ainsworth and J. Chris Morel.
Kay has painted for years, but more recently dedicated herself to art full time. A registered nurse and former nursing supervisor at Saint Francis Hospital in Tulsa, she is married to Dr. Max Deardorff. They reside in Tulsa.
Kays work is included in many private and corporate collections nationally and internationally and features many commissioned paintings, particularly of children.
